DIY Doll Clothes

American Girl Dolls and accessories taking a toll on your wallet? Why not try making outfits yourself using  scrap fabrics. Instead of spending a lot of money on clothes and outfits, our daughter goes through all of the themed dolls in the catalogs and gets ideas for new outfits for her doll.  Not only does this save money by not having to buy more dolls or outfits, but our daughter gets to create unique, one-of-a-kind looks for her doll.

Found Treasure Garden

Our kids have become quite the archeologists these days around our 90 year old log cabin. Every time it storms, the sandy soil on the hillside next to our house erodes, revealing various items from the distant past. The kids have discovered so many items that they even started collecting them in their “treasure garden.” Some of the items are recognizable while others are merely pieces or fragments, which leads us to make guesses  and pretend to be archaeologists for the day. They may not find any gold treasure buried in that hillside, but these little treasure hunters don’t seem to mind.

Scrabble Name Plate

We at White Elephant Creations love to play the game of Scrabble, and we love to use the Scrabble letters to make new creations as well. (See scrabble magnets w/box and Scrabble Board Wall Art). A very simple craft to make that is a great “end of the school year” gift for teachers are Scrabble name plates. With some Scrabble letters, a letter rack, and some glue, you can make easy name plate gifts for teachers to display on their desks.

Junk Drawer Collage

Most of us have at least one drawer in our house where we keep random objects, discarded game pieces, ticket stubs, pens, paper clips, bottle caps, toys, and lots more. The contents of a drunk drawer are unique to each home, but they share a common thread. While the items may appear to be forgotten, they can say a lot about where we’ve been and what we’ve experienced. They reveal a little bit about who we are and what we treasure. This junk can even serve as a beautiful work of art as our junk drawer collage shows. What does your junk drawer look like?
